Dora returns to her parents in Pennsylvania and serves as a companion for Mrs. Worthington. She hears tales of the Underground Railroad and of pioneers in the West. With Mrs. Worthington, Dora visits in California and sees Matthew over Valentine’s Day! Then comes spring courting and the fall wedding. Lilacs, love, and faith keep Dora going.
