Losing a driver in the sport of racing is always tragic for the fans. We experienced that loss with Kenny Irwin in 2000 when his life was cut short after his car hit the wall during practice at the speedway in New Hampshire. Kenny Irwin will forever be remembered as a talented young driver that fans lost before he had reached his full potential in the Winston Cup Series. 1998 was the rookie season for this promising young driver. He was stepping into the famous #28 Ford, and trying to fill some big shoes of the famous names that had driven that car in the past. He won the Rookie of the Year honors with this car. 1998 was also the first year for the Taurus in Winston Cup competition. Ford was excited to be teaming up with such a new promising talent for this debut. Kenny went on to drive this same car throughout his 1999 season.
